Selection

The Selection tab lists every expression on the layers you have selected in the timeline, disabled ones included, with its layer, property and text. The list is read again each time the window comes to the front.

  • The list: Click a row to load that expression into the editor. The property becomes the only selected property in the timeline, so the apply button reads Apply back
  • Enable: Switches the expression of the selected row on
  • Disable: Switches the expression of the selected row off
  • Delete Expression: Removes the expression from the property. The text stays in the editor, so Apply puts it back

Library

The Library tab is your personal list of saved expressions, with a name and the expression text for each.

  • The list: Click an entry to load it into the name box and the editor
  • Name box: The name the expression is saved under
  • Save to Library: Saves the expression in the editor under the name in the name box. When the name is already in the library, the button reads Replace in Library and overwrites that entry
  • Delete: Removes the selected entry from the library. The text stays in the editor
  • Save to File: Saves the expression in the editor as a text file (.txt)
  • Load File: Loads an expression from a .txt, .js or .jsx file into the editor

Buttons

  • Apply: Writes the expression in the editor to every selected property that can take an expression, as one undo step. The button reads Apply to and the number of properties when several are selected, and Apply back when the selected property is the one the expression was loaded from. Applying an empty editor removes the expression
  • Close: Closes the window

How to use

  1. To edit an existing expression, select its layer, open the Selection tab and click the expression in the list
  2. To reuse a saved expression, open the Library tab and click the entry
  3. Write or change the expression in the editor
  4. Select the properties you want it on in the timeline and click Apply
  5. To keep the expression, open the Library tab, type a name and click Save to Library

Note

💡 The window can be resized, and the editor takes the extra room. Results show at the bottom of the window. Properties on a locked layer are skipped when you apply
