- Selected comps in project: Scans the compositions selected in the Project panel
- Whole project: Scans every item in the project
Project

- Merge duplicate solids
- Merge duplicate nulls
- Merge duplicate footage
- Empty comps
- Empty folders
Layers
- Layers turned off: Unticked by default, since a layer is often off on purpose
- Layers outside comp duration
- Empty text and shape layers
- Orphan nulls
Effects and expressions
- Effects turned off: Removes them. Expression controls are never counted
- Expressions turned off: Removes them
- Disable broken expressions: Switches off expressions that have an error
Also
- Clear render queue
- Purge all memory and cache: This also clears the undo history, so it runs before the cleanup
Buttons
- Scan: Looks through the scope and counts what it finds in each row. A scan changes nothing. While it runs the button reads Cancel, and afterwards Scan Again
- Reveal: Shows the selected item of the list in After Effects
- Include / Skip: Ticks or unticks the selected items of the list
- Include All / Skip All: Ticks or unticks every item of the list
- Report: Saves the findings as a text file
- Clean Selected: Cleans every ticked item. The button shows how many
How to use
- Run the tool, choose a Scope and click Scan
- Each row now shows a count. Tick the rows you want cleaned and untick the others
- Click a row's name to list its items on the right. Use Include and Skip to decide item by item
- Tick Clear render queue or Purge all memory and cache if you want them too
- Click Clean Selected. The result shows at the top of the window, next to the Scan button
Note
💡 One Undo reverts the whole cleanup, except the purge. A layer is never removed when it is locked, is the parent of another layer, is a track matte, is used by an effect's layer control or is named in an expression. Such items are listed as kept, with the reason, and cannot be ticked
